Was listening to the first Roxy album, which I've loved for decades, on a meagre MP3 dock whilst making the Sunday roast. I was amazed at how well the bass cut-through, despite the somewhat low-fidelity setup, and the fact that I dropped a Yorkshire pudding on the dock at one point...

I think he was an excellent and versatile player, and if you haven't heard it do check it out. Sadly it was his only album as he left shortly afterwards, although of course he was followed by superb work from John Porter, John Gustafson et al. on subsequent albums.

Not many photos of him from that time, but looks like he's playing a Gibson EB-3, and I'm guessing with a pick - can anyone confirm that...?

Cheers!

I'm going to try that later. :) Interesting that he apparently had the opportunity to play with Hillage but didn't.

He's a good player. And it's a well-known fact that dropping flour and egg-based foodstuffs on audio equipment improves the sound.

I must try it with Metallica's 'Batter-y' (fetches coat...)

Not sure about GS using a pick, but the second picture shows a slightly unconventional thumb-and-fag technique!

Cheers for the link - for a second I though the first picture was Bryan Ferry, with a different hairstyle!

I'll give it a go with the thumb and should probably take up smoking for the full effect. But which brand...?

Was listening to some music on Mp3 earlier today. It sounded crap so I threw a Yorkshire pudding at it and it still sounded crap. Did I do it wrong?

Was there gravy and onions in it? Makes all the difference...
