I’ve got it virtually finished just got to string it up and it’s all done

I think it looks loads better than the white body

In hindsight I probably should have spaced the knobs a bit further apart but hey ho it’s all part of a learning curve :D

Just trying to set up the bass now and realised that the bridge is about 4/5mm out of alignment with the neck (I don’t quite know how that has happened I checked it 3 times) so I need to sort that out and shim the neck a little bit

Here’s it all string up.......

Ouch.

I was glad to have used the outer two strings at this stage in my own kit build because the saddles' centreline was slightly offset from the bridge backplate centreline.  It is still hard to see why it would be like that but BC builders always check with strings at the bridge alignment stage so I wasn't going to fly in the face of experience.  It paid me well to follow that example.

Jez and Andy were the two I had been reading up on if I recall correctly.  Cheers chaps.

Yeah I was going to do that but where I jointed the top I had a perfect centre line which I used to line up the neck pocket and pickup template, I then marked the centre of the bridge but something must have gone wrong when I came to screw it down!! :angry2:

Its not going to be too much hassle moving it over a smidge!!

Almost finished glossing this one it’s been flattened just got to buff it now but........

When I first did this build I was toying with the idea of having a pickguard on it then I went away from it now I’m thinking (not that it needs it) it might look nice with a white or cream pickguard on it here’s the rough shape it might be.......

What does everyone think?? Opinions please .........:D

I think it looks great without, but with it added it’s still good, a very Adam Clayton sig vibe. If it were me and I went with the p/g, I’d go cream.

That’s kinda the look I was going for but not in the standard white and black

I found some white polycarbonate kicking about so I thought I’d make one

I really like it with and without I think I’ll just not screw it down and see how I feel in a few days

Fascinating how different the guard makes the bass look.  It completely changes the mojo

I had this dilemma when planning my 2nd Maruszczyk  custom build. It just looked like too much uncovered ‘real estate’ without a p/g. Eventually I went for a clear one (best of both worlds due to the flamed top) and liked it so much that I had one made for other, non-p/g bass too.
