ikay
Built in Chicago. A range of several basses but I'm particularly drawn to the short scale Midwestern and Midwestern 2 with choice of Darkstar, Bisonic or B90 pickups. Quality gear by all accounts but I've not heard of them before. Has anyone this side of the pond got one of these, or even heard of Serek? I'd be interested to hear any views. https://www.serekbasses.com/midwestern Edited December 8, 2017 by ikay
Hazy Bass
No, never heard of them, but that looks cool! Styling very reminiscent of 1960s Epiphone solid electrics. Never seen a P90 on a bass before either as far as I can recall.
NJE
I cam across these a while ago, Tim Lefebvre has been using them for a while and they are all over his Instagram account. They seem to be fairly new and starting to pick up pace as a brand. Hand made and pretty pricey I think, but no doubt high quality especially if you have someone like Tim Lefebvre using them. Have you looked at talkbass yet? Bound to be a Serek club on there, they love their clubs over there.
ikay
The pickup is a 'B90' - made by Serek with a special wind for bass. Sounds pretty much like a Darkstar/Bisonic. If I can't afford a bass maybe I'll just buy a pickup! Haven't looked on TB but will do that.
Skybone
I know it's not a short scale, but the Sacramento is very cool.

Sibob
I had a play of a couple at NAMM last week, I have to say that the black 32" Sacramento I tried, with two BiSonics, was absolutely brilliant. Easy to play and sounded really really good! I want one! Si Edited February 1, 2018 by Sibob
NancyJohnson
I do really like that double-cut body design...it's very reminiscent of Pete Haycock's gold Veleno guitar and more recently the Gabriel Currie/Echopark Guitars El Cabillo model. Sibob
Looks like it was a successful show for Jake!! The Gallery is going to be taking some stock, and I think I’m right in saying that Bass Direct will have a couple too! Si
thebassgallery
They're great! We met Jake yesterday and he's going to send us a couple of his basses to sell. The B90 pickup is cool, and he makes it himself! Not sure on prices yet, we'll post them up on our site as soon as we know
Lee-Man
Played a couple at the show last weekend. Totally blew me away. Will be ordering one at some point. Btw the Trickfish amp it was plugged in to was also impressive.
Sibob
So it looks like the three basses from LBGS show wound up at Bass Direct and Pauls Bass Mattes (Netherlands, brilliant shop and Paul Sipps is a lovely man): Sacramento & Midwestern: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Serek.html Midwestern 2: https://www.bassmatters.nl/en/1696/Serek-Midwestern-2 Si Edited March 16, 2018 by Sibob

Jonse
Love the look of these as a short-scale fan but, as a cheapskate, I couldn't justify spending that much.

Sibob
My Serek Midwestern is here and just really bloody brilliant. I already have a Fender Mustang, so I’m not exactly new to the shortscale thing, but this Midwestern is a whole new ball game. It arrived at 11am and I was able to take it to a gig that same day, and it nailed it, so much fun to play. It also sounds fantastic, I specifically wanted the B90 pickup, I figure that it’s part of the Serek sound and brand, the various other pickup options are great, but this B90 is the one! Mine has the dummy coil, which is great for recording, but actually live, the standard wiring is perfectly fine. Build quality is excellent, as you’d expect, and even though the build is largely Walnut, it’s still very comfortably lightweight. All in all, i’m Very happy and couldn’t recommend Jake (Serek) enough as a luthier! Cheers Si
