burno70
Thanks Cameron and Chris. But wouldn't some of them just jump from zero to too loud? For example, I actually bought a 20w Laney praccy amp which jumps from low, farty sound to a nice sound that is about the loudest I'd want to play in my flat. My Ashdown LB30 has a better sound at low volume levels - but again, there's not much room to play with here. Although a gain on the Ashdown would definitely help. F I've used Aguilar, Thunderfunk, TC, Markbass and GB amps and they have all been ok.

Maybe I could have used the Two10 on its own but these days the bands I play with are too loud to let me get away with the One10 on its own. I just feel more comfortable playing a loud 5 string with a lot of low mids through as many speakers as I can. So the Three10 worked very well. I got a lot of compliments on my sound and swapped phone numbers with a drummer and a sax player. . . . both band leaders. Another BCer was telling me he does small gigs with a small BF cab, but still has his 610 on stage because it looks the part. That's showmanship. I don't gig, but in my lounge at home I have used a MarkBass LM2 and Bareface BIgOne (15" and 6"), Now I use my LM3 and a One10. The gain and volume don't go much above 3, but the sound is fantastic. The BigOne was better for an all-round the room sound, but it was a bit big. The controls at 3+3 give a playing volume at "conversational" level. It doesn't disturb the neighbours. I love my Markbass TA503 with my BF ST2 which lives in the rehearsal studio so an MB Little Mark with a BF One10 would be my ideal.
burno70
Sorry to Steve - If I've derailed your thread a little there!
Chienmortbb
I have recently been using both a GK 200 watt combo and a MiBass 220 Head with various cabs and zi agree with many that say 350 is your minimum. The problem is that Amps are rated into 4 ohms and and give something around half that into 8. So maybe 100 watts? That is not enough for most gigs. A 350 watt will give between 175 and 250 into 8 ohms depending on brand and that gives more headroom. It is also worth repeating that a gain and master volume gives the versatility you need.
