NancyJohnson Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Now then. Some of you may recall the Smitten Kitten thread from a while back. I fell in love with a five-string Mike Lull NRT5, sold a bunch of basses and put in an order. Six months on, the photo below dropped into my inbox today with a brief message saying Mike Lull will be building it this week, so hopefully I'll see it before Christmas. I guess it's pretty rare to see his work like this, so posting here. I am heartedly excited. P Edited December 28, 2017 by NancyJohnson 8 1 Quote
Chiliwailer Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Very cool, will look forward to seeing it completed. Quote
NancyJohnson Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 I got another message and they're going to be building it today (13th). It seems strange that it'll only take a matter of hours to build it, but I suppose now that they have all the parts it should be fairly quick. More photos to follow (well, hopefully). Quote
Chiliwailer Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I'm quite envious, being a big fan of the basses and the man himself. Nice Xmas present, bet you haven't had this many butterflies before Xmas since you were a kid?! Quote
Sibob Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Very cool, about 3 months longer than my US Lakland, but sounds like Mike himself puts everything together at the very least, even if he doesn't make all the parts?! Whereas US Laklands are 'team-built' I believe. Gonna be a beast! Si Quote
fretmeister Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 What colour hardware are you having? Going to look lovely. Alas I reckon the chance of getting anything cleared by customs and delivered now before next weekend is exactly flip all. Quote

Butterflies are a kind of a diminishing return; older you get, less excitement you feel, but yep, when that pic dropped there was a bit of fluttering! 27 minutes ago, fretmeister said: What colour hardware are you having? fretmeister Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Nice. Looking forward to pics of the finished article. Quote

BigRedX Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 What colour is the back of the neck? Both photographs have cleverly avoided showing it. Quote

LewisK1975 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I saw the Jeff Ament model in Bass Direct a couple of weeks ago, it looked AMAZING in the flesh. Quote
