Cato Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Missed out again dammit. Always the bridesmaid... Quote
musicbassman Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Best bass players in the world right now? Really? I don't think so. Maybe should be titled "Bass players who were the most influential in their day" Quote
Roger2611 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Only seventeen as well, pehaps they couldn't think of twenty bass players! Too many big names missing to be taken seriously! Quote
visog Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Hmph... maybe the seventeen last bass players the writer googled. No Hadrien or Mohini WTF? Quote
Bassassin Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Well - that was inane. Particularly enjoyed the inclusion of a guitarist, who used to play bass in Pantera, 15 years ago. Quote
wateroftyne Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 These articles are best avoided if you have blood pressure issues :-) Quote
discreet Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 No Charles Mingus? No Charlie Hayden? Paul Chambers? James Jamerson? Joe Osborn? John Entwistle? What a load of rubbish!! Quote
ezbass Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 A very rock list for the most part. 3 I hadn’t heard of, although I’m aware of the bands, which indicates a younger voting audience. As ever with these lists, nothing really to see here, move along and don’t waste your ire on it. Quote

dmccombe7 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Few talented ones but by no means the best 17 in the world. Not for me tho. Quote

I found it quite telling in a very depressing way that all but two of the artists (Thundercat & that guitarist-with-a-bass out of Royal Blood) were people who had been around for decades already. So I guess there's not a whole lot of young & interesting platers making any kind of a mark. Quote
Bolo Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Responses about as interesting and thoughtful as the original article 😄 Quote

Higgie Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Any top bass player list that makes no mention of Pino can be safely ignored 1 Quote
skidder652003 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 wasnt that bad, at least Thundercat made it in there. Quote

Kevin Dean Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 How long did it take to listen to every bass player on the planet ? Quote

NancyJohnson Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 These lists are so subjective. 'Best players...' says who? It's not very encompassing; no Geddy, no Macca. It's more populist than anything else...as I was running through it, I was wondering whether Adam Clayton would come up. I wouldn't qualify Mike Kerr or the dude from QotSA inside anyone's top 17.
