musicbassman
Best bass players in the world right now? Really? I don't think so. Maybe should be titled "Bass players who were the most influential in their day"
Roger2611
Only seventeen as well, pehaps they couldn't think of twenty bass players! Too many big names missing to be taken seriously!
visog
Hmph... maybe the seventeen last bass players the writer googled. No Hadrien or Mohini WTF?

Bassassin
Well - that was inane. Particularly enjoyed the inclusion of a guitarist, who used to play bass in Pantera, 15 years ago.

discreet
No Charles Mingus? No Charlie Hayden? Paul Chambers? James Jamerson? Joe Osborn? John Entwistle? What a load of rubbish!!
ezbass
A very rock list for the most part. 3 I hadn’t heard of, although I’m aware of the bands, which indicates a younger voting audience. As ever with these lists, nothing really to see here, move along and don’t waste your ire on it.

dmccombe7
Few talented ones but by no means the best 17 in the world. Not for me tho.

Likely the case. I found it quite telling in a very depressing way that all but two of the artists (Thundercat & that guitarist-with-a-bass out of Royal Blood) were people who had been around for decades already. So I guess there's not a whole lot of young & interesting platers making any kind of a mark.

NancyJohnson
These lists are so subjective. 'Best players...' says who? It's not very encompassing; no Geddy, no Macca. It's more populist than anything else...as I was running through it, I was wondering whether Adam Clayton would come up. I wouldn't qualify Mike Kerr or the dude from QotSA inside anyone's top 17.
