AndyTravis
I thought these were close to a Jazz width - slightly smaller than the original SB-1000
drlargepants
I played one a *long* time ago and I seem to recal they were quite narrow. Which is a good thing imo ! I fell in love with them when Cliff Burton started using them, my dream bass. Never could afford one back then though.
AndyTravis
Wish I’d not moved mine on...silly move, that SB700 was something else.
ZilchWoolham
The original 80's SB-1000 had a really wide nut at a whopping 45mm. On the other hand, the string spacing was narrower than standard at the bridge. The SB-R models (not to be confused with the RSB models) had normal string spacing and a narrower nut, and the SB Elite models had normal string spacing and the narrowest nut of the bunch, at 40mm. As far as I know only the dual pickup SB-R150 had the same "attack mode" switch as the SB-1000, though.

They are wonderful machines, it must be said. I have a couple of them, both 77 ish I think. The necks are very different, interestingly. One has a skunk stripe and is quite a shallow D profile, the other does not and is a more chunky 'c'. Bloody good basses though. Give my US's p's a run for their money....Anyhow, getting back to the subject in hand your SB is a fantastic bass. GLWTS!
