E sharp
I like that . What sort of LEDs were they - the strip ones?
jimbartlett
Yes is was the strip ones that stick and I've wired it up to a female barrel so it can run off 9v or 12v power adapter. These ones on Ebay are the sort of thing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5M-300-LED-Strip-Light-3528-5050-SMD-RGB-Ribbon-Tape-Roll-Waterproof-IP65-12V-UK/352160081635?var=621597426451&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3D95b01c8775134ca58ba76f4018dc7c21%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D350871703543&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850

jimbartlett
Cheap as chips to do, get some in 😄! I was just thinking that Green ones would have a cool old school Trace Elliot effect!
CameronJ
Ooh. It would surely be possible to get LEDs with a colour changing remote and just switch it depending on your mood, no?
jimbartlett
Yes, totally. Love that idea!

You could even use a sound to light converter - the type DJs use - and have the colours change and pulse with the music. How cool would that be? Lozz196
I reckon that would be awesome
bassace
But not good for jazz. I’ve only recently been forgiven for wearing a red jacket. 1

If not, what is a barrel ? Some green ones for my Trace would be handsome
jimbartlett
Green for a Trace would look great!! Please post a picture if you do it? fleabag
Aha - 9v power supply - i get it now Jim... hence you using a PS or battery. How thick of me Mind you, the ebay auction says its 12v ? Edited December 29, 2017 by fleabag
jimbartlett
Mine work on 9v or 12v. The only difference is they are a tab brighter on 12v but either is fine.
fleabag
Wild - i might stump up the coin. They're well cheap. Did you also buy that busy looking remote ? Also Jim, i take it there are only 2 wires on the strip to connect to a 9v barrel jack, so would it matter which terminals the strip wires connect to on the barrel ( which i assume only has 2 terminals as well ) Edited December 29, 2017 by fleabag
jimbartlett
Yes it came with the remote so I'll have a good play around with that when it arrives. I may just stick with the yellow though as I don't want my cab turning into a 70s Disco! Ha ha! The led strip has two wires. You solder the negative to the centre of the barrel and the positive to the outer tab. Easy peasy.
fretmeister
70s disco sounds awesome. How do I do that?

Other colours do, but not green. But you can buy the remote separately, and still cheap. There's a 44 button remote or 24 button remote. Cliff knows what 44 or 24 buttons do
fleabag
HaH ... i can answer my own question. Just by the RGB set with remote instead of just the one colour green without remote, as RGB has red green and blue lights. Use remote to change colour Bingo PS Jim - which set did you buy ? There's a confusing list of 5050 150 LED......5050 300 LED.... 3528 300 LED .. and he doesnt mention how long they are the function for the remote control: Up: increase brightness Down: decrease brightness Off: Power off On: Turn on Power R: change color to red G: Switch to green color B: change color to blue FLASH: color changing automatically, quickly jump STROBE: automatically change color, gentle jump FADE: automatic color change, gradually move quickly SMOOTH: automatic color change, gradually move smoothly Edited December 29, 2017 by fleabag

If you measure the perimeter of your cab grill and that will give you the rough length you need. You then remove the grill, stick the strip around the inside edge and replace then you're good to go! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=292222022202&globalID=EBAY-GB

You can choose a single colour or the remote has options on it to give various changes. The 5050 LEDs are bigger and better than 3528 from what I believe? This is what I bought, you can choose various lengths: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=292222022202&globalID=EBAY-GB I can't wait to see some pictures from you lot! uk_lefty
My band has had these for a while. The drummer uses them on his bass drum, I think the guitarist has given up on them though.
fleabag
Ordered ! Same old sheet though. Checked item location as UK, and when paid for, seller was Chinese. Maybe they have a deal UK stockist or something but i despise this sort of hidden BS
