Has anyone had any experience with buying instruments from Craig’s list?  I was interested in a pre CBS precision and the prices are much more affordable than Ebay.

The descriptions look pretty convincing but I would think you’ d have to take a tool kit with you if you went to check one out.

There appear to be many scam adverts on Craigslist, especially in the London area. Some vintage prices

are ridiculously low, so tread carefully. Couple of original 60’s Jazz basses on there at the moment for just

over £2k for example. If it’s too good to be true then it probably is....

Craigslist has never really caught on in the UK, and as a result, it's populated mostly by scammers, as others have stated above. If it looks to good to be true, it absolutely, definitely is. The site is just an older looking, older feeling, less functional Gumtree anyway.

Not that it's ever going to happen, but if I was in the market for buying any sort of vintage Fender then it would ever be from on here, which is policed by some very knowledgable folk, or from a reputable shop.

I've never used Craigslist, but my ads in Gumtree got so many dodgy replies from Nigeria that I've given up selling anything.

I either use Basschat or give stuff away to charity shops.

Think I've been reasonably lucky with Gumtree round here. Probably bought more than I've sold, although did sell some

JBL PA cabs to a guy from Bristol who saw my advert placed locally, so you never know. I had them advertised for

less on here without any luck too.

Always wary about divulging full contact details until I'm reasonably sure it's okay, but realise it's still a gamble to some extent.

I bought my Veillette Citron from The States using Craig's List. I believe it's more respected there.

Hassle free till it got to the UK and HMR&C took over...do you that one of the requirements for getting a job with them is that your parents weren't married?

Craigslist is tricky (I live in the US). There are great buys (and loads of junk), but sellers have to beware of scammers and of intentional slips, like Squiers being advertised as Fenders.

If you  can read a dictionary,  go and check out ' scam ' like i said

Knowing  the language is way more important than some silly app

I've only ever used Craigslist to buying stuff when I'm over in New York. The key to any potential purchase is get a phone number and speak to the seller. Ask for further details  (and pics if needed).

If it feels "off", leave it. If it feels okay, then go for it - while being astute.

Saying that, fortunately I've had good experiences so far.

Why the double spaces and no full stops?
