fleabag
Rather than Frankenbasses, which appear to be basses cobbled together ( and many quite brilliantly ) by members, and has already been a rather big thread... has anyone bought an odd ball from a Pro ? ( Guitar shop, luthier etc ? ) I'm throwing this one of mine in - Unknown 3 part Ash P body, Unknown Peavey neck, Peavey tuners, reshaped headstock , jazz width at nut , Gotoh bridge Big allen head neck to body bolts, vintage Schaller Bass Bucker neck pup ( bluddy lovely too ) Dimarzio Model P DP 122 bridge pup. Vol, Blend, Tone. Simple Edited December 31, 2017 by fleabag
stingrayPete1977
I know Bernie Goodfellow made a GB bass from various scraps of wood as a test bed for things and trying electronics out in etc, it was so good Mika's bass player had it painted and took it on tour on the proviso that Bernie had it back to destroy after so it never got refinished and ruined his reputation in years to come! prowla
Here's one I picked up last year: Status Graphite neck. Warmoth body. Badass II bridge. Schaller tuners + Hipshot eXtender. J-Retro preamp. (Not sure what pickups are.) Straplocks. I did have a fretless version of it too, but I sold that.

prowla
There are some commercial brands which assemble basses from off-the-shelf parts. Recently I nearly bought a Peter Cook Mighty Mite P-bass - he made them in the 70s/80s(?) and one I saw had a Mighty Mite logo.
alyctes
I had a Retrovibe prototype for a Les Paul-style series of basses which never went into production. Moved on maybe four years ago (to DarkHeart, who didn't get on with it IIRC) - no pics, sadly.
