AndyTravis
Hiya, Long story short, our newest addition is coming in March/April and she’s going to be a very poorly little girl. She’s going to spend a lot of time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s in Manchester. I have mates who do Marathons and Tough Mudders etc for charity and I love how they can generate support and interest for causes close to their hearts, utilising the skills they have. ”i’ll Do that” I thought...but a marathon and the training required as well as the fact that my knees are only good for a 2 mile jog or Longer walks...not factoring in the time needed to get to that level of fitness will not be available to me (and as my wife pointed out, two of us in Intensive Care is not an idea she’d relish). So, after a few large glasses of red, I decided that I’d use my skills to generate some funds and support for the “Shine” charity, and the Intensive Care Unit at St Mary’s. Im just looking for any experience “I did it, next time I’d do x/y/z differently” Thanks in advance xxxx Edited November 17, 2018 by AndyTravis
blisters on my fingers
I would put a link to Shine and St Mary's charitable donations pages on here, on this site. There are a lot of good people on here that I'm sure would love to contribute. All the best to you and your wife and your new addition.

I want to be able to show Iris (little lady being born into the world) that she sparked a difference in me and others. Ive just set up the recording dates. better get on and write the song now (I have the bare bones) thanks x

On another note, our daughter is a paediatric nurse at the equivalent Paris hospital (Port Royal...), specialising in neonatal extensive care. It's absolutely amazing the stuff they can (and do...) do, these days, with, unfortunately, the occasional heart-rending story of impossible odds, too. Their work (and the St Mary's staff, of course...) is beyond value; the progress that has been made, in many fields, is remarkable. Best wishes for a positive outcome for the mite; be sure to post coordinates and links when you get your charity single out (a current link to the charity concerned wouldn't go amiss, either...). Well..? Don't just sit there..! Get writing..! ... 1

AndyTravis
So today was tracking. I recorded 3 guitars, Ukes, fretless, fretted and a melodica. Then strings...pfft, software strings are crap. so I’ve got a mate in Madrid and one here in Manchester I used to be in a band with - they’re both graduates from RNCM and both very busy musicians - they’re providing their services for free, a real spot of luck. Should transform the overall sound. vocals next, and then replace the programmed drums with a real drummer (hopefully)

Stub Mandrel
Great to see a chair that looks fun - I'd be worried all the other kids will want a go. Back in the 70s when I was in the scouts one of the lads had SB, he got around on crutches and never missed out on anything other than the most physical of activities (like football) he was good at sailing and canoeing and no one cut him any slack. With modern treatment I'm sure things will go great for Iris. 🙂

We’re mindful she’ll require a chair for when she’s tired, so this will just make it part of her life. She’s giving it a good go in fairness. As she gets more used to it, her arms will grow stronger too - she’s struggling with core strength for crawling and such. So this should help.

naxos10
I like the look of determination on Julia's face in the wheeled vehicle photo and there's a cheeky over the shoulder (model style) smile on her face in the above post. Just gorgeous Andy. I hope everything goes well for her and the family.
AndyTravis
Finally got moving under her own steam today - also we delivered a cheque to RMCH the other day - think we’re about £4200 in now - more than a single would’ve done with no real backing.
