grandad Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 I am undone and can't make it, apologies all round. Quote
Guest MoJo Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 I'm planning to be there. I'll be the quiet one in the ACDC T-shirt Quote
ped Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Have a great time everyone. Sorry I can’t be there. Looking forward to pics. 1 Quote
Frank Blank Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Due to a timetabling miscalculation (my error) I am actually at work... Bah. Quote
Si600 Posted May 5, 2018 Author Posted May 5, 2018 And it begins! Bass players are even talking to each other instead of having a slap-off 😂 2 Quote

Guest MoJo Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) Great fun had by all at the bash today. Huge thanks to @Si600 for organising and running the event. Thoroughly enjoyed the veneering demo by @Andyjr1515 and the talks by @Jabba_the_gut and @Norris. Fell in love with a '59 Precision (below) and had my eyes opened to the world of short scale basses. Blown away by the quality of the workmanship in Norris' hand-built Telecaster. Looking forward to doing it all again next year Edited May 5, 2018 by MoJo Photo added Quote
KevB Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Well done folks another cool n casual outing on a nice sunny day. Maybe next year if im around i can bring along a mcmillan 12 step for anyone thinking of midi backing in their band? 3 Quote
prowla Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 It was nice meeting everybody and I found the guitar makers presentations fascinating. Well worth the drive! 3 Quote
Harryburke14 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Great day out and the presentations were great. Andy made the veneering look straightforward enough that I'm now looking for an unfinished body to have a go myself. Lovely to see you all, thanks Si for organizing 👍🏻 1 Quote
Andyjr1515 Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Back and unpacked. Huge thanks to @Si600 for organising it once again. I thought @Jabba_the_gut 's and @Norris 's presentations were excellent...as were their builds. Mind blowingly good. Great to catch up with everyone Quote
Norris Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Thanks everyone and especially @Si600 for organising it. See you next year Quote
Jabba_the_gut Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Thanks to @Si600 for organising this. Nice to meet up with everyone again and trying a few new bits of kit, in particular @Lee-Man's Precision and @prowla's Rik. Always good to see @Lee-Man playing my basses as I get to hear how nice they can sound in the hands of someone who really knows what they are doing!!I See you next year!! Quote

SpondonBassed Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 The only thing that I can add is that it was great to meet up with fellow BC members again. I've been to three Bashes so far. One of them was a double bass bash. I've enjoyed them all. Quote
Len_derby Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 All good. Some great basses on display again. I've not seen so many Ric and Ric-a-likes in one place for a long time. Playing Andy's beautiful fretless with the side dots in the correct positions was a revelation. I think I get it now. My bass Ukelele amused a few people too. Quote
prowla Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 My only regret is that I didn't get to play many other folks' basses - I arrived at 2 and next thing it was home time! Quote
Lee-Man Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Lovely to see everyone as usual. Its a fun event. Sorry the boy and I had to bounce so early. Thanks to @Si600 for all the work he puts in to it. @Jabba_the_gut you're too kind sir. Your basses are ace. That fretless is great! @Andyjr1515You may have inspired me to get my DIY on! Quote
Si600 Posted May 7, 2018 Author Posted May 7, 2018 It was lovely to see you all again, many thanks for coming, there wouldn't have been a bash otherwise! I hadn't appreciated the bank holiday which may have impacted on numbers slightly. Especial and heartfelt thanks to @Andyjr1515, @Jabba_the_gut and @Norris for agreeing to speak to us and give a little insight into how they do things. How to top that next year! Quote
