Rainbass
Hi I think the title gives a good background to this question! The guitarist in my band takes on bass duties for a couple of songs when I play a Mandola. He is left handed and has been playing a full scale bass (an entry level Vintage model) for about a year but finds it a bit of a stretch so wants to try short scale. So does anyone have any advice on what left hand short scale models with a modest price tag might be worth a look? I'm thinking up to £250 price level cheers Dave
Silvia Bluejay
Although short scale instruments appear less often, have a look at the second hand, lefty section of the Marketplace Lefties for Sale or have a chat with Affiliate @Chownybass who specialises in short scale. There was one of his basses for sale in the lefty section above, but it's gone. Edited January 10, 2018 by Silvia Bluejay
Rumple
For a cheap and cheerful route Harley Benton P HERE I don't have any experience with them personally but if you look through the Build Diary section there's a guy who owns several that he's modified. LeftyJ
Many short scale basses sound thumpy and vintage. If you're looking for something more allround and modern, Chowny looks like a great option. There's also a short scale version of the Rockbass Corvette by Warwick. They can be bought in both a short scale (30") and medium scale (32") version. Might also be worth checking out, nice and affordable allround bass. Rainbass
Thanks Rumple, was just having a look at that, and wondered if it would fit the bill!

uk_lefty
Hofner and the copies of the Hofner bass can be had around that cost and they're short scale. Have a look at your favourite second hand sites if nothing in the forum. Or import an Ibanez Talman from the US.

Here's the Rockbass Corvette Short Scale in black at Thomann, and here's the Medium Scale. Edited January 10, 2018 by LeftyJ
