doomed Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Fast Eddie Clarke has passed away. Everything will be on 11 wherever they are now. 1 Quote
Osiris Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Hadn't heard about this until just now. Fastway were the first proper band I saw when they supported AC/DC on the Fly on the Wall tour, back in '86 (I think?). Quote
PaulWarning Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 yep, live hard die (relatively) young, they haven't all got the constitution of Keef unfortunately, that's them all gone now, along with The Ramones, got me wondering how many other bands have none of the original line up left alive Quote
Highfox Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Yes just heard. Had to watch this again... Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Great shame, part of Motorheads best line up imo. Quote

spongebob Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) I've loved Motorhead since I was 13, grabbing the 'No Remorse' compo back in '87. Sadly, I never saw the Fast Eddie era live, as my first time was the Hammersmith Odeon, December' 88, with Lem, Phil, Wurzel, and Philthy. I love all the line-ups and eras. Last of their kind...they really lived it. Sad day for us Motorheadbangers. RIP Eddie. Edited January 11, 2018 by spongebob Quote

Frank Blank Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) I saw Motörhead at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on 12th of April 1982. They were so loud they caused the building structural damage... proper. The second loudest band I've ever seen. Edited January 11, 2018 by Frank Blank Quote
fleabag Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Deep Purple held that record for a while Quote
Barking Spiders Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I'm quite sad to hear that and not a good way to go. So that's now the classic and the best line up all gone. Quote
stu_g Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 i only just bought this live at the bbc album last week and was enjoying this gem RIP Eddie Quote

Queen at the Manchester Apollo... Anyway saw Fast Eddie and the boys in the classic Motorhead line-up on the 'Ace of Spades' tour but they were still using the Bomber lighting rig... very impressive. Less so Vardis & Girlschool supporting. Vardis sporting the old talc in the hair routine. Edited January 11, 2018 by visog Quote
davepb24 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Caught them on the last night of the Iron Fist tour...Eddie never played with them in the UK again. RIP Quote
skankdelvar Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) Anyway, just to cheer everyone up here's the Ace of Spades album cover with some kittens on it. Edited January 11, 2018 by skankdelvar 1 2 1 Quote

Shouldn't the album be renamed Ace of Spayed! RIP Eddie. I only ever saw the line-up with Lemmy, Filthy and Wurzel but he had such a great tone to his playing. Sad way to go too. Quote
Rubbersoul Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 All the heroes of my youth are dying out. RIP Fast Eddie. Quote
Green Alsatian Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 RIP Eddie. I've liked all the incarnations of Motorhead, but loved the Lem, Phil and Eddie lineup. I love Eddie's anecdotes that are up on YouTube - particularly the one he's in a lift with the NY police after Phil did himself an injury in a hotel and Eddie was whizzing! Think he used to have a Special Brew to come down from it. Quote
DarkHeart Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Gutted, Kilmister, Clarke and Taylor shaped my youth, loved the band, don`t normally wear band tee`s at gigs but my `head one will be worn tomorrow night. RIP Eddie. Quote
Fastra Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) Sad news indeed. Still find it hard to believe that anyone in this 'day and age' can die from Pneumonia. But only this morning it clamed the life of an 18 year old too. This image has been kicking about on Facebook, which I've found quite poignant... Great watch here ....
