Pea Turgh
Slightly OT (sorry Jim) but I would LOVE to see a bass with a body in Vantablack and smokey chrome hardware!

By its very nature, you would not be able to see the bass, only the hardware.

Perhaps it should be called an Emperor Telebass. I'll get my coat!
Jimothey
The neck is now all painted just got to change the nut then its done Body has had its first coat of primer and the pickguard has had its first top coat, the pickups should be here in the next couple of days so I can then finish the routing I thought I'd try and save a few quid and spray the bridge black I don't know how well it will work?? 🤔
JohnDaBass
Nah, get a proper black bridge. The spray paint will break off eventually while a powder coated or electrostatic coating will last much longer.

Jimothey
I had the body all sprayed up black and I dry fitted everything but it just didn't look right? I loved the look of the one in the picture but in the flesh not so much so I've decided that White body, black neck and pickguard with black hardware is the way to go
SpondonBassed
I know what to call it now: Spoiler The Flibbertigibbet. If you had a barrow, you'd never set it down lad. Heeheehee. I don't mean that in a bad way, relax. It's admirable to see someone who has the tools and the time to experiment in this way. If i do a build where I don't changes the plan halfway through I think you'd die of shock 🤯 But I've decided on the next build I won't stipulate anything it will just have the title 'Bass Build'!! 😁
TheGreek
I was rummaging through my box of bits for the SE Bash recently and came across some individual saddles which I've had for a while. Bought from eBay, they're not going to be the best quality but they're yours if you want them...Unless somebody has something better or more appropriate they might donate...

DarkHeart
Used to be, sold it a few years ago, couldn`t get on with the slab sided body, it used to batter my right forearm haha

Jimothey
I finished painting the body white today just letting it dry over night and I take some pictures tomorrow....... I think it definitely looks better than the black!! Still waiting for the pickups to turn up had a message from the seller saying there's been a delay and they will hopefully be with me by next Monday?! Which is a pain as I wanted to finish the routing this week!! Edited October 1, 2018 by Jimothey
Jimothey
Here's an updated picture The chrome knobs are just temporary they are just there for visual effect! I definitely prefer this in white than the black 😀

SpondonBassed
Mmm yes. Stealthy as a Killer Whale. Heeheehee. It does look good though. If it had concealed pick ups or a piezo bridge it would keep those clean lines. With only the strings to come between the bass and the onlooker, it'd have an intriguing darkness about it. May I christen it The Orca Bass? Edited October 2, 2018 by SpondonBassed
Jimothey
It's funny you say that I've been told in the past I'm as stealthy as a killer whale!! And yes you may christen it the Orca(ster) Bass!! 😁 I agree that would look nice with hidden pickups but I've got another build in mind which I was going to go down that route a semi hollow with piezo pickup possibly under the bridge I am going to call on Jez or Andy's expertise when I come to tackle that!! 🤔 Edited October 2, 2018 by Jimothey 2

Having the Piezo is great but also having the Herrick individual coil pick ups (hand wired) gives an additional tonal package which leaves listeners bemused, after all it doesn't even have pick ups... If you're going for the "super clean look", think about hiding the controls in the end of the body as Andy did on my Psilos.
Jimothey
Pickups turned up today so I've routed out the body just got to do the pickguard now! The top need another coat aswell so I'll do that tomorrow 😀
SpondonBassed
The scratch plate almost looks like black suede. Now there's an idea... Those chunky MMs look quite at home there too. Looking good. Edited October 4, 2018 by SpondonBassed
