New range from fender.

He was actually selling both of his own ones (I think one fretted and one fretless) on eBay a couple of years ago for about that amount. I seem to remember from the description that he'd had them master-built by the Fender Custom Shop and had been in talks with them at the time to bring it out as a signature.

Unfortunately it soon became very obvious that Alien Ant Farm would never have any more hits after Movies and their cover of Smooth Criminal and were destined to simply fade into obscurity and irrelevance so they never actually went into production with it as it was far too hideous to sell on its own merits.

(Okay so he didn't actually say that second half of that but you could read between the lines  ).

Yes, the same happened to the Terry Corso signature Schecter 006. The band is still going though, without Tye Zamora but instead with Tim Peugh on bass. The guy has an artist page on the Schecter website: http://www.schecterguitars.com/artists/4167-tim-peugh-alien-ant-farm

Oh my...I do rather like the look of that Schecter CV - anybody on here had the pleasure of trying one of them?

Schecter make some nice stuff, I've always fancied getting my hands on one of these:

I would encourage you to go for it. I've had one of the passive version (Model T Studio?) since 2013, and it's still one of my favourite basses.

I am fine with Fender pumping out the same old design. Just make a mid priced Jazz and Precision bass that keeps the same specs and line up name for at least five years but rotate the colours every twelve months. Fender have a few under used finishes in the catalogue. It’s not going to be to everybodies taste but there is a demand for more colours.

2018: Grafitti Yellow, Fiesta Red, and Vintage White

2019: Sonic Blue, Shell Pink and Race Green

2020: Mystic Aztec Gold, Burgundy Mist and Competiton Orange

2021: Sonic Grey, White Blonde and Daphne Blue.

2022: Surf Green, Candy Apple Red and Imperial Blue.

Good call, especially on the lefties! They did a limited run of lefty Jazz and Precision Basses in Mystic Red and Mystic Blue a few years back, but otherwise it's always been little more than black (with white guard) and sunburst (with tort guard). And still no maple fingerboards on US-made lefty basses, even now with CITES :|

Mostly guitar related here, but who says Fender aren't prepared to try something ummm knew?

The Strat body with Jag face is particularity terrible.

I saw this a few days back.  I just shook my head in disbelief and may have muttered something detrimental under my breath.

Something for the lower octave from Fender's Parallel Universe...

I have much want for a 50s style PJ!! 😍

That is a gorgeous specimen...I'd be tempted if I didn't already have something which looked very, very similar:

As much as I love Fenders (a lot) I don’t see the point any more.

You can get something built exactly how you want to the smallest detail for the same or less money with literally no compromises.

Having said that I own two. Make of that what you will. I really should have got one of those polish bases whose names I cannot even attempt to spell and spent the rest on a nice holiday. Hey ho lol !

They did...I'm unsure whether these were solely custom shop or limited run models, but does anyone remember these monstrosities:
