subdub Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Does anybody else stay up to see their bids win. Had a marathon battle with someone last. On the Japanese auction if someone bids in the last five minutes the time is extended. He did it six times. Auction finished at 1 am work at 4.30. joys of slappin da bass!! I won though. Quote
ezbass Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 That looks rather smart and you get to choose the pickups, a situation I’d really enjoy. Congrats. Quote
Rikki_Sixx Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Is that on the Japanese eBay? Sounds like it adds a bit of drama to proceedings - for better or worse! Quote
subdub Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 It is ok if you have no work in rhe morning!! Does stop people sniping. So a good thing really. Quote
musicbassman Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 That looks an interesting buy. Care to give some more details? - about the bass and also the auction site? Quote

subdub Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) There is no ebay in Japan. Only yahoo auctions. No one on there ships international so yku bid through.....www.jauce.com. This bass is a 77 lawsuit ere aria precise bass. I already have a standard p saw this and thought why not have a pj as well. They play very well. Edited January 27, 2018 by subdub Pedants 1 Quote
Rumple Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Well done that looks like it will make a nice bass, I do like a PJ Quote
Marc S Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Not heard of a Japanese Auction before... interesting Although if I was up till that time in the morning and bidding - I wouldn't then be able to "switch off" and then go to bed Really nice looking basis for a great instrument you have there. Japan built 70's lawsuit era basses can be fantastic quality. Aria seemed to be producing some superb instruments around that time Quote
gareth Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 You've got to factor in shipping, duty and vat, no? Quote

It's battered and bruised but oh my is it amazing. Aria, in my opinion, were actually producing the most accurate clones of the time (out of the Matsumuko factory). Indeed, I bought a replacement pickguard for mine from Fender and the screw holes lined up perfectly. I mean, there are Fender's own that won't even do that ha ha ha!! Quote
Bassassin Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Cool looking project - and good to hear it's something old & interesting, not just an MIJ Fender... DiMarzio P/J set with cream covers, then? Quote
subdub Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 This is my other one. 250 numbers awsy serial wise. Quote
