Yes realise that, I wondered if it was just a loose connecting wire or a broken winding in the pickup itself. I guess it was a connecting wire but hats off to you if you managed to find and fix a broken winding!

There was a broken connection between the copper winding and the wire to the preamp..I located it on the actual solder point on the pick up. So I cut the copper wire, unwound 1 turn, carefully cleaned the shellac off the wire with wire wool, and resoldered it....it worked! So relieved, the sale can now go ahead.
