Silly question but how exactly does this operate? The pipe in the hole in the middle? Sing into it? I like the idea of sounding like a robot, I like the idea of singing while playing much less....

@andybassdoyle basically the Talkbox has a speaker inside it which amplifies your instrument sound - be it guitar, keyboards, bass etc. 

You plug one end of the plastic tube into the speaker hole and the other goes into your mouth. The idea is you mouth the words you want to “sing” while the instrument sound coming out of the tube acts as your “voice”. You don’t need to produce any vocal sound yourself. It takes practice! I’ll attach some videos below.

No thanks, Cameron. My list is specific and I’m trying to ensure it doesn’t grow. (I’m debating whether to buy the used Data Corrupter that my local shop has.)

Some cool sounds here but I'm afraid that plastic tube is just reminding me too much of a trip to hospital a few years back. Looks like a mic is needed too - gear explosion/potential load up apathy alert

Mic not needed, but it’s handy to tape to a microphone stand

If using it live with a band then yes, you’ll probably want to use it up close to a vocal mic and have it go through the PA. At home, a mic isn’t needed. This thing can get loud!
