petebassist Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I tried one in Hobgoblin Music in Bristol, stunning bass and superb craftsmanship. I didn't get to try the amplified sound, which is where they shine I'm told. Very nice !! Quote
BCH Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 Yes the sound is excellent...tried with a Schertler ROY combo...the blend knob is very effective in dialling variations....will try thro a PA soon Quote
CameronJ Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Really lovely looking bass there. Congratulations! Quote
Norm Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Mr Gillett came to last years SW bass bash nr Taunton with a car full of his basses. Fine bits of kit they are too. Hopefully he will be attending this years too (see thread in Events section)? Quote
Brook_fan Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Played one of these in Hobgoblin in Southampton only yesterday 🙂 Quote
BCH Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 The sound.....Mine is fitted with bronze round wound, which gives a deep & rich sound(piano like), which is perfect for what I’m doing in the duo. It also has the longest sustain I have ever experienced….because its a shorter scale, this is achieved by anchoring the strings over the bridge, thro the body to a solid brass plate at the back of the guitar…extending the strings by 5 inches. Very pleased…see pic & demo vid’s http://www.gillettguitars.co.uk/video Quote
