electricbass Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) **SOLD...AGAIN** Iceni Zoot (Pro 5 Custom Top) Handmade in Essex, England! ** I thought I'd sold this and took it down a few days ago, turns out my buyer can't get the funds together (fair enough), so with his agreement I'm offering it for sale again ** I didn't buy this new myself but from my research I've done I think it's probably an earlier Zoot from the 90's (although don't hold me to that), as the style and build suggests it having seen a few other Zoots online to compare. I believe Mike Walsh is the Zoot man and there is a lot of love for him from people who play these, and rightly so! Schaller hardware, Bartolini pickups and Bartolini NTMB preamp. Controls, Vol, Vol, (mute/kill switch for each PU individually, very handy actually), Mid with a pull boost, and bass/treb on a stacked knob. It has a custom made thumb rest you will see attached in most of the pics, not used by me but comes with it. Mahogany body, quilt maple top with a sandwich of what looks like Ash and walnut? Seven piece Mahogany/Maple neck with birdseye FB with thin inlaid stripe both sides. Probably weighs between 9 and 10lb, my scales have gone kaput so I'm kinda guessing but I've had a lot of basses that I did know the weight of so I think I'm about right pitching it at that... Few little dings here and there as would be expected as it's been played but actually very good indeed for its age. Honestly though, this plays so nicely with a great neck and really low action all the way up the neck, it's honestly as good if not better than a lot of very exotic high end basses I've played and to me even has a nice 'rounded vintagy' feel to it in the hands. I'm selling as I have another handmade bass (RJB Guitars) that was made for me a few years back and after having sooo many basses I'm going to try my best at just having one bass! (I know...good luck with that!) Please let me know if there is any love here for this on BC? It's a lovely high end bass at sensible money. I'm based near Biggleswade, Beds BTW and would prefer collection as it can be viewed in the flesh then too. Let me know what you think... but from my research I think it's an early one from the 90's Edited January 25, 2018 by electricbass
Chris2112 Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 A lot of bass for the cash. I used to have a Zoot fretless with a carbon fibre neck, I still miss it!
