These old tunes are just great...The spacey engineering is where its at, so much separation makes everything today sound like its been recorded in treacle. Anyway takes me back to a club just off the beach bk in 79....

I knew Pete from when he worked for Jones music here in Macclesfield, many years ago…. last thing I bought from him was an old Spector….. never got to see him play with Nearly Dan unfortunately….”I hate Steely Dan Pete, sorry”.

Anyway…. On with the thread

This live 'Don Grusin' concert has some smashing grooves on it. A great line up with some terrific playing all round.

It has both Abe Laborial and Nathan East on it as well. They actually play together on the last tune:

Came across this last night.  Why have I never seen this before?? Oh well better late than never.

Just to add...this is pure badass by the way...with a young Darryl Jones if I am not mistaken

Totally Awesome Citrus Sun/Incognito. Goes from a wonderful piece of of music into just a bad a** Jazz Funk groove. Jim Mullen on guitar,  Francis Hylton on electric bass.

This album is probably in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. Its so well produced and played. He and the band the band were so on their game back then.  He wrote Holding Back the Years when he was 17. Says it all about the guy. imo.
