I will have a good mooch for some of their music. Keep posting your suggestions please and I will see what I can dredge up from the memory banks. 😀 1 Quote

Ricky 4000 Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Rather a high standard of busking it in Auckland 😎 1 Quote
Barking Spiders Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 I've very partial to John Scofield's funky outings such as this off Uberjam. Check out drummer Adam Deitch's funky as fook drum work. This off Up All Night and this off Uberjam Deux 2 Quote

He has some serious chops. His is also a highly rated seasoned touring pro. 1 Quote
bubinga5 Posted January 23, 2021 Author Posted January 23, 2021 This is just old school killer Omar. He's fantastic anyways. But with Galliano... 2 Quote

Barking Spiders Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Dunno if any of you guys are familiar with the very fine Fila Brazillia, whose eclecticism covers many bases not least jazz tinged funkiness like this... 1 Quote

Not knocking those posts - very nice grooves, very nice playing, but yes, a strong song/melody will always win the day for me. 1 Quote

The deluxe version has the original Chic mixes too. Well worth listening to. Quote

Devotion record is one of my all time faves 👍 I bought the single when it was released (as an 11 year old disco fan) and still love it now. The album has some great Nile Rodgers business on it. That Diana Ross album is a belter as well. Nile and co also did the magic for a Johnny Mathis album around the same time but it didn’t get released until a couple of years ago. I realise I’m gonna be in the minority here but “I Love My Lady” is great. The kick drum and percussion and bass on this are ace! Quote
diskwave Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 Yep Nile Rogers is def the owner of the magic sauce....so many great tunes, masterfully recorded. 1 Quote
bubinga5 Posted January 26, 2021 Author Posted January 26, 2021 Nile Rogers's guitar playing on this is way out there imo. 3 Quote
