burno70
I have an active Shuker which takes 2 9v batteries. I'm not sure whether the pre-amp takes the two batteries or if one is for the pups (Delano SBC 4's I think) and one is for the on board pre-amp (Jon's own). So, would it be possible to mod the bass to include a passive switch? I wished I'd requested this at the outset but I didn't even know they existed then. If so, how much would this procedure generally cost? Thanks all.
BassBunny
This is one for Jon himself I reckon. I would suspect the 2 batteries are for the pre-amp, (18v, increased headroom), as I am not sure Delano make active pick-ups. Most Active/Passive option switches, (either a physical switch or Pull/Push pot), bypass the pre-amp either straight to the Volume control or sometimes the Blend but without knowing how the pre-amp is designed it would be difficult to offer a suggestion as to how to wire a passive option. I would guess that Jon has the pre-amps made for him, but don't know who, possibly John East? If it's a Bartolini XCTC, I have the wiring diagram with the Active/Passive option as an option. burno70
Thanks for your response. Jon made the pre-amp himself. If the passive switch is a possibility I'd be looking to take it to a local luthier. I didn't really want to bother Jon seeing as how busy he is but it might be best to confer with him first.
