Deeper and down Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Hi, Dr Feelgood's Roxette seems to be a simple enough song for a beginner but I can't figure it all out. All the tabs that I've found online are either nonsense or just plain wrong. Can anyone help? Thanks, Paul. Quote
Deeper and down Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Perhaps it is, but I'm a beginner. Quote

The 3-note pattern never lets up. It must have been quite hard playing live to resist going off on a double-time walking outro. Quote
T-Bay Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I have used them in the past and it works ok. It is relentless and I learnt it as a newish player and by the end I was always ready for it to stop! Quote
Steve Browning Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 If I remember correctly the live version had the last note of the 3 note pattern doubled (at the end) - D F GG D F GG D F GGGGGGGGGeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Crash!! Used to love playing that song. The timing can seem odd at first but it's one of those songs that is simple once you've cracked it. Another great one for that is She Likes To Boogie Real Low by Johnny Winter (his version). That's a 13 bar blues in the same space as a 12 bar. It has two 2 beat bars which switch round the timing. Simple but absolute genius. Quote
Deeper and down Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks everyone, I'll give it a go. Quote
Deeper and down Posted January 31, 2018 Author Posted January 31, 2018 Wow, relentless it is... I've got it boxed off at about 2 thirds speed but Sparko-speed is beyond my 60 year old beginner's fingers for now. Proud to say that I saw them play it live from the front of the stage at the Reading festival in 1975. Happy days... Quote

If you mean the right hand ... Sparko used a pick on Roxette. Various shots of him here: Edited February 1, 2018 by skankdelvar Quote
