obi 2 kenobi Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Hi, what brand of strings do you all use in pre-EB stingrays. Specifically the string thru bridge version. The only brand I know that is long enough is Labella slappers. Quite a few others (D'addario) are too short. Quote
Sandmann Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 hello uk-bassplayers, i am new to this forum. very interesting!!! i already aquired a used ´75 p-bass form one of your members ..... your question: i own a ´76 stingray (sn. B0xxxx). string-through design, slim neck (bullet-truss-rod), very heavy ash-body but tone to die for. i use d´addario nickels extra-long. they fit perfectly and sound very good with this bass. regards, sandmann Quote
johnnylager Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 (edited) EB Stainless Slinkys every time on me '79. Edited November 17, 2008 by johnnylager Quote
GЯДИКФЯ Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 never had any trouble using normal strings on my string through body basses Quote
Delberthot Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I always used slinkies on my 30th anniversary stingray and it was through body stringing. In fact I used to use slinkies on everything. Quote
Kev Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 iv never had any issues with regular length strings not being long enough for through body stringing... which ones have you tried that were too short??? whichever strings i buy, i always chop a load off at the end otherwise id be winding forever! obi 2 kenobi Posted November 17, 2008 Author Posted November 17, 2008 Thanks I'll try Slinkies - never used them before. Used to use D'addario nickels in my top loaded Stingray but the same strings are too short for the other Stingray with string thru body (half inch of winding on fingerboard). Switched to Slappers. Right length but now find them too tight for my taste Quote
