Deeper and down Posted February 3, 2018 Share Posted February 3, 2018 I've got an Ibanez SR600L in a natural flat finish which looks very susceptible to damage. My problem is that the sculpted cut out for the jack socket is at such an angle that once the plug is in its a nightmare to get a grip on the plug to get it out again. I'm concerned that the finish around the socket is getting marked and damaged. The easiest way is to pull it out by the lead but that makes me cringe. I can't leave it plugged in because I believe that as it's an active bass that will kill the battery? Am I alone with this problem or is it possible to get a different style or longer plug that I can actually get a grip on to remove it? Thanks. Could I leave the adapter plugged in then just plug the usual jack/lead as required or would the adapter being plugged in permanently kill the battery too? I'm a beginner here.. T-Bay, I've tried a right angled plug and though it's easy to remove the lead it looks a bit clumsy and pokes out more or less at right angles to the front of the body. A mate has just given me a cheapo 'Nikkai' (from Maplins?) lead to try. The jack plug moulding is about 10mm longer than mine so may be easier to get a grip on. stevie Posted February 3, 2018 Share Posted February 3, 2018 I have an SR500 and have no problem with a straight Neutrik jack plug. I believe OBBM uses them. Any worth it's salt has the jacks gripping the cable so you an pull the cable without it leaving the jack in the socket. Also the Neutrik jacks are long enough to grab hold of. mybass Posted February 6, 2018 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Neutrik seem to fit better as well, better contact point due to their 'stouter' circumference over other/cheaper plugs.....and watch out for plugs that look like Neutrik, especially the shiny fakish ones!
