I have a great Aria ATB with one of the best necks I have played. Only payed £80 for it last year. It’s my backup bass for gigs and has never let me down.

There are a few Peaveys that spring to mind - cheap and cheerful Milestone aren't bad, Fury and Foundation petty damned good, especially the USA ones with the lined headstocks.

I got a J&D jazz as a backup / pub gig bass last year from DV24/7 (Musicstire de) for £114 (I believe) was really impressed with it .. so much so I upgraded the hardware / pickups & had a fret level as I thought it was worth it .... :)
