tom1946 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 (edited) Here is my first attempt at building a tele, I made it from a kit of parts from Gear4music, there were a few issues like the bridge which I changed for a 6 saddle one. Works much better than the crap it came with. My thanks go to Davie (Kodiakblair) for making me a headstock template as the kit came with a paddle. The pickups are surprisingly good through my 1 watt (valve) Blackstar I will change them but I'm making the Les Paul version now..... The action is low without any nasties, not bad for £80 +£15 for a rattle can.. (I know the G string is not under the retainer) Edited February 12, 2018 by tom1946
ahpook Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Nice work, looking good ! You've got a new guitar and had fun making it....or at least I hope it was fun You've got me back about building something now, dammit
tom1946 Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Oh yeah it was fun, like I said I'm doing the Les Paul kit. do it do it do it .
ahpook Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Do let us know how it turns out - I've been thinking of putting together a Telemaster-style thing with mini-humbuckers.
Geek99 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 ugh - too many strings and so weedy nice work though...:)
tom1946 Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 I know what you mean, have you lost your way and ended up here? To be fair I've made 3 basses too, all weighing 6.1 lbs each
EliasMooseblaster Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 That does look lovely! (Your 1W Blackstar isn't an HT-1 by any chance? I do love the way my own Tele sounds through one of those!)

kodiakblair Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Looks great Tom. Matching headstock was a must Did you buy the scroll saw ?
tom1946 Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 I did Davie, 50 quid and it's well worth the money. It's this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scheppach-SD1600V-240-V-16-Inch-Scroll-Saw-Blue/112789092022?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 It works really well on a scrap piece of wood, too cold in the garage atm. 1
