bubinga5
I know this has prob been asked before, but its allways interesting to hear the responses....if you could stick with just one bass. i guess your desert island bass, what would it be..£100 Harley Benton, £4000 Fodera, Squire Jazz, Vintage Fender, your custom Shuker (Dood)?? And with the extra low B string on the 5, it just expands the scope that bit more. Obviously a wider neck but not too wide (at least for me). In 40-odd years of playing I've had a ton of basses (and guitars), some I would dearly love to have back again, but the 'Ray has been with me up and down the UK and across Europe over the last 12 years and has honestly never let me down. hatori
My beaten up old Fender Jazz MIJ with Reflex Red pickups and the Badass bridge. Sadly gone now wish I hadnt done that. Yes I would be a happy boy.
waynepunkdude
I'd take my Squier P on with me it's the most playable bass I have and it's not like I'd have an amp. Anyway there wouldn't be much time for bass playing as I filled out another one of these things but it was '5 hot women to take on a desert island' so I'd be busy most of the time

johnnylager
Gabbie. Or possibly Bentley. And a bunch of PP3's. clauster
A "proper" (ie '80s) Warwick Thumb - still the best bass I've ever played.
bremen
No amp = double bass!
Good point well made. If there was an amp though, it'd be the fretless. I'd have time to learn to play it in tune, and since there'd be no-one else there the intonation would not offend the ear. Dr.Dave
I'd be tempted to say a Jazz - for the versatility , but they don't seem to like me nor I them however much mutual respect we have. So A Precision with an added J pup and a Jazz neck. Or a steiny - use it to paddle my canoe off the bloody island!!
The Funk
A 13-string made of a light, low-density wood and water-resistant finish => doubles as a boat.
OutToPlayJazz
Given electricity & amplification, my Status S2-Classic. Best all round bass I've ever played! But if there's a lack of electricity & amps I'd take my Ronald Prentice Double Bass. It's a monster!
tauzero
A double bass for a raft. I'd be a bit torn. My Thumb (an 87) is the nicest bass I've ever played, but the 7-string would keep me occupied trying to get my head round it. And I'm not going to go round the country trying out basses to see if there's another one I'd like more...
simon1964
It would be a tough call between my Thumb and my battered 70s reissue Precision. On balance I'll take the Precision - its already pretty beaten up so the exposure to sand and sea shouldn't make much difference!

josh3184
My Stingray. No the Stirling. Stingray. I think.
cetera
Pre-Kramer Spector NS2..... it's the "dogs back wheels"!
mike257
I'd have to take the Stingray. Even though I've neglected it lately in favour of the Sandberg, it's still the bass I love the most. It's hard as nails too, it's already survived flying here from Australia, countless treks up and down the country in a battered van, an attempted robbery where it was dumped in the street with no case, and god knows what else. That's the kind of stubborn survivalism you need from a desert island companion!!
Dubs
My SSI, but maybe my 'Jizz Bass' once I've built it...
markytbass
It would have to be my Dolphin, love it.
acidbass
I'd probably choose one of those Alembics with the multitude of knobs and switches - that way, if I was stuck on a desert island, I'd DEFINITELY have the time to figure it out properly! Leowasright
If i had to, I could manage with just the MIJ Fender Jazz. But I break strings.
Sean
My DJ4 in natural, that way I'd be the first to be saved if the rescue party was manned by U2 fans!
thisnameistaken
An old Hondo or Encore precision copy. I'm going to need a fire.
