Gardenerben Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi I'm struggling to identify the strings that came with my Bass (second hand). They feel superb to me, really smooth and I'd love to try them on other basses so would really appreciate any info. Gold ball ends with no silks and then silver silks as in picture. Cheers Quote
The59Sound Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Fender 8250s had grey silk when Fender produced their own strings. If the E is tapered then it's definitely them. Quote
Gardenerben Posted February 17, 2018 Author Posted February 17, 2018 Thanks for your thoughts. So checking the E it's the same width at nut and bridge, am I missing what you mean by tapered? Quote
The59Sound Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Is the core wire on the bridge saddle? Quote
Gardenerben Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Ah well, thanks for your suggestion another crossed off the list. Quote
discreet Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 I'm guessing Sadowsky, but by no means 100% sure! 1 Quote
Gardenerben Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Thanks, chap at Thomann seems to concur.. Older type Silk Sadowsky. Now to track some of the bad boys down! Quote
The59Sound Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 They've stopped producing black labels now so they only do blue labels for rounds. Quote
Gardenerben Posted February 21, 2018 Author Posted February 21, 2018 Interesting, I did see some black label on Sadowsky's home site but can't quite justify shipping costs and the ball ache with fees etc... Quote
