Gardenerben
Hi I'm struggling to identify the strings that came with my Bass (second hand). They feel superb to me, really smooth and I'd love to try them on other basses so would really appreciate any info. Gold ball ends with no silks and then silver silks as in picture. Cheers
The59Sound
Fender 8250s had grey silk when Fender produced their own strings. If the E is tapered then it's definitely them.
Gardenerben
Thanks for your thoughts. So checking the E it's the same width at nut and bridge, am I missing what you mean by tapered?
The59Sound
Is the core wire on the bridge saddle?

discreet
I'm guessing Sadowsky, but by no means 100% sure!
Gardenerben
Thanks, chap at Thomann seems to concur.. Older type Silk Sadowsky. Now to track some of the bad boys down!
The59Sound
They've stopped producing black labels now so they only do blue labels for rounds.
Gardenerben
Interesting, I did see some black label on Sadowsky's home site but can't quite justify shipping costs and the ball ache with fees etc...
