Looks great! I’ve probably missed it but what scale length have you got here and how many ‘frets’

Thought I'd share a project I've been working on as part of the winter build off challenge over at that other bass forum. The challenge was to use mainly walnut. I looked at the pile I had handy and decided to build something inspired by the wingbass concept (basically a headless 34'' bass cut off at the 12th fret).

Thanks - yes I knew that but I know other people make these 'half sized' basses with varying actual scale length, depending on, I suppose, what you divide in two. Also the proportions of yours look different because I've got 17 frets.

Looking forward to more pictures!

Looks fantastic but I don't like the short scale.

With this scale it's not really a true bass. ;)

Try one. They're like crack.

But this will spoil the advantage of having a small instrument! :dash1:

Just remember it’s not the size of the instrument that counts it’s what you and do with it!!!!! 🤭

And I recorded a track with it this morning. Just a bit of a jam with myself. Main bass line is recorded via an octave pedal and my roland microcube (mic'd) to give an idea of the sound this travel-sized rig makes. Then I lined the bass au naturel for the solo.

Lovely looking thing. I  love the colour of the walnut (one of my favourite body woods, for sound and look). You must be mega chuffed with it. Congrats.

That's outstanding!

You made a good decision to replace the bridge cover with wood.  Not only does it look better but you have an additional advantage.  On a cold day in the woodshed, so to speak, it will be more comfortable for palm muting.  With the Steinberger bridge, that heavy wad of metal chills the hand somewhat otherwise.
