Quite possibly a stupid question, but can you use lemon oil to clean an ebony fretboard?

'Yes, dummy',  or 'Of course not, you idiot' will suffice

Alrhough it will have a cleansing effect because you're wiping the board down I think the main reason to oil a fretboard is to stop it drying out, if you just want to clean it a damp cloth will do the trick just as well.

My double bass repairer used bore oil, Yamaha have it, it’s used down the bore of wind instruments. I’ve used it ever since on (Macassar) ebony fingerboards. Once a year should do it. Don’t pour it onto the board, dampen a rag with it and spread it, leave for a minute and then wipe off.

Yes.

I took possession of an amazing Sei 6 string headless a few weeks ago. It's currently being re-fretted by JD guitars in Birmingham. According to them ebony is very prone to drying out, and should be treated fairly often to prevent this.
