Yeh, t'was him. Was on a recent Mick Ronson documentary showing how he played it, and what a wonderful

chord progression it was. It was also Mick's first attempt at writing and arranging strings, amazingly!

I believe Flea played on a Johnny Cash track on American II.

I also think SRV playing on Let’s Dance and EVH on Beat It are kinda odd when you consider each artist’s career/background.

US jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris formed an interesting pick-up band when he recorded this in 1974... Note the bass player listed last under the large font star collaborators...

The ones that spring to mind are...

  • Steve Howe  and Norman Watt Roy on FGtH’s Welcome to the Pleasure Dome
  • Aimee Mann and Rush on Time Stand Still
  • The Propellerheads and Shirley Bassey
  • Half of Thin Lizzy and half the Sex Pistols as The Greedies
  • Jon Anderson and Jean Luc Ponty
  • Jean Michel Jarre and Hank Marvin on the Revolutions album
  • Yes and The Buggles

Remembered some more...

Huey Lewis playing harmonica for Thin Lizzy

Colosseum II/Barbara Thompson’s Paraphernalia (including Gary Moore and Don Airey) with Andrew and Julian Lloyd Webber - the Variations album, better known as The Theme from The South Bank Show

For that matter the cast on the original studio version of Jesus Christ Superstar including Murray Head, Mike D’Abo, John Gustafson and IAN GILLAN as Jesus!!!!!!

And speaking of Eminen there is him sampling the bass playing of Dave Peacock of Chas and Dave fame!

What do I win?

Maybe musically unexpected but if you read about how Tony Stratton ran Charisma then entirely feasible.

That old chestnut again.

From the many interviews I've read on the subject if NWR's playing actually made it onto any the Frankie Goes To Hollywood records it was as a series of individual notes which had been sequenced using the Fairlight's Page R. IMO that doesn't even count as a performance let alone a collaboration.
