Thought I'd share this little moment with you...

Earlier today I pulled into a car park and spotted a large estate car parked awkwardly on the side of the entrance with its hazard warning lights flashing. Does this person need assistance I thought?

A guy was leaning against it scanning the  carpark for  who knows what...

Meanwhile another man was walking toward him with intent. Both nodded as if to say, yes,  I'm your contact.

Was this a drug deal, undercover cops, secret services???? Just as I checked in my rear view mirror I realised, I know this guy. He was half hiding inside the collar of his jacket but there was no mistaking it, it was @thebassdoc!! I knew that face from the good old days of the bass place, but hadn't seen this revered figure  for  a good 20 years.

My mind raced at what was in the boot of that estate, a quiver of expertly set-up basses most likely!!  As my car rolled into the first available bay and I scrambled to get my basschat autograph book out,  I looked back and he was gone. Disappeared back into the bass underworld.

Ha ha, the whole thing felt very cinematic in a non-stalkery, not geeky-at-all kind of way!! Liam Neeson or Matt Damon would be good casting shouts for the badass bassdoc.

This opening scene could then lead to a groovy theme tune, like a bond film,  but better :)

Apologies to @Thebassdoctorifthisisabitcreepy

IIRC he was ill for a while and has been absent from here for a while.

Glad to hear he's better.

That sounds like a cover story if you ask me.

Great story! Thanks for sharing. I’ve had many car park encounters over the years on Basschat and only two have turned into shootouts.

Just be careful not to mix up your car park assignations.

I met a chap in a car park to buy a bass cab and ended up with £200 worth of hash.

It's terrible - no low end, undefined mids and a harsh top end.

:)

(Also nice to know the bassdoc's still about)

I hadn't realised the bass doc had been ill, so I'm happy to report news of his apparent bass deal activity.

Great casting skank. Coen brothers would hit the mark as directors. That fine line between farce and 'friller is so BC :)

He won't need make-up.

My agents will be in touch. :|

Where is JTUK nowadays anyway?

Looking at the website, The Crossfire gig calendar seems quite healthy. (Don't know if that's related to his BC and CF absence or not)

Oh my god, this is hilarious. Happy Jack as Yul Brunner is genius. Keep them coming Skank.

That photo is dangerously close to being accurate, y'know.

It somehow captures my smooth suave man-about-town air, my sense of being a Bond villain just out of his lair, and finally my complete and utter absence of hair.

To be honest, it was just the absence of hair that did it 😂

My sources inform me that Mr Brynner's suave man-about-town-ish-ness and slightly menacing persona were the factors that swung it for him with the casting director; the absence of hair was an unexpected bonus.

That and the fact he's a cheap hire, being brown bread and all.

Is he doing that for tax purposes like Hotblack Desiato?

Interesting fact from the link above; 'Hotblack Desiato is the name of an estate agency in Islington.'  It's good because the popular image of Estate Agents in general was of a bunch of cowboys.  A squad of Space Cadets is a much better mental image for them, dontcha think?

Tickets are limited and marked up 25%

They will be posted in the for sale section at an outrageous price listed in euros in an eastern European country.... pick up only.

Eventually after 332 bumps the price will finally be reduced to the market rate and delivery will be offered for 50% of the face value per ticket.

I am assuming there will be the usual concessions for the over 60s?

A nice thought; well done, you.

Here it is, then, at twice the size, for the short-sighted old gits...

Disappointed to see that being over 60 leads to warnings about falling over.
