Best pickups for Fretless Jazz?

Anybody any views as the best pickups for a Fretless Jazz? I know it boils down to personal taste in the end but I'm always interested in peoples ideas!

Just that, personal taste. Type of music you're playing, as well as choice of strings and amp will be factors also. I like a really mid-heavy nasal tone on my fretless Jazz and an almost mid-scooped tone on my fretless Precision.

Try rubbing some Olbas oil into your fretboard that'll get rid of that in no time........

I use Bartolinis' on my Dean Fretlessessess and find them rich sounding with good definition. Having said that, the onboard preamps cover most tonal requirements.

On reflection, this is a very open ended topic...!

EMGs with the tone down about half way- always sounds good to me, even on my cheapy de-fretted J bass.

Q-Tuners are superb. I have recently built a Jazz copy with a Mighty Mite ebanol fretless neck and a single pickup in the bridge position. Probably one of the best fretless sounds I have ever heard. Have a look at it in the link on my signature.
Erno Zwaan at Q-Tuner also does replacement Jazz pups that should fit the standard routing
