Serial number

Hi all does anyone know where I check out the serial number of a fender jazz bass. I'm hoping to buy a second hand guitar and I just want to check it's athenticity. Cheers

It's not only the serial number you need to check by the way.

There are other dates on the pots and pickups and neck you should probably look at too.

Assuming you are trying to evaluate whether the instrument is in original condition?
