Tomjbass
*Update* This has now been sold Listing here first to give people who know what this is an opportunity to see it! Anyone who knows what this bass is knows how special it is (pun not intended). Made in Japan between 1984-87 this has buckets of tone from a reversed P pickup in the neck position and a J pickup at the bridge. There’s a pickup selector switch and after that’s where the electronics get fun - I’m not going to attempt to explain it myself, so here’s a link to an image made by a Talkbass user to explain: https://goo.gl/images/Yg4bSb I bought this from Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester in July 2009 so have no idea what it’s story is before then, but this was my main bass for the next 5 years - I’m selling now because it’s hardly been used since then and deserves more than being sat in a bag in my spare room. There are quite a few dings as per the pictures, most of which were already there when I got it - I’d be lying if I said I haven’t added to them though. I’m selling with the flight case because the foam insert is shaped for a P bass and this is the last P shaped bass I own, but will sell without the case for £400. I’m open to offers and may consider a trade. I’m in Manchester and would prefer buyer to collect or to meet somewhere rather than arrange anything with a courier. Any questions, or if you want any photos from a different angle, give me a shout Edited March 31, 2018 by Tomjbass Item sold

BreadBin
That's nice, and is a good price in my opinion. That bridge isn't standard, but looks good quality. Edited March 14, 2018 by BreadBin
Tomjbass
Thanks for commenting! I had no idea that wasn’t the standard bridge!

You'll be surprised, the bridge is standard - I have two PJBS basses and the first had this type of bridge too! The good news is that like for like models can be found brand new on eBay for little cash (I replaced mine)
Dood
I love these basses. BassChat probably knows that already. My two are customised a little and they are by far my favourite Fender PJ bass. £450 is a crazy giveaway price as the cost of say a body refinish (at a reasonable rate) will still put the bass at it's average market value. I think anyway.
Dood
I've also just spotted that yours has similar serial to mine with the same bridge on - my other PJBS has a standard 'bent tin' bridge.
karlfer
It's an '89, one of the post '87 without the painted back of neck. It's a sensible price, no matter what people put them out for they rarely actually SELL for much more than this, even in excellent nick & fully original. Tempted myself but currently saving for one of Santa Anna's finest GLWTS
