Advice Needed Amp Repair

After some advice guys. My Hartke TX600 head failed after six months so it was returned back to the retailer for repair. As of today the amp is still sitting at the retailers waiting for the "official" Hartke repair company to pick it up. Is there a maximum time that they can keep my amp before having to replace or refund?

Taken from the 'Which ?' website -

Under the Sale of Goods Act, the retailer must either repair or replace faulty goods 'within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience'.

If the seller doesn't do this, you're entitled to claim either:

• a reduction on the purchase price, or
• your money back, minus an amount for the usage you've had of the goods (called recision).

If the retailer refuses to repair the goods, and won't replace them either, you may have the right to arrange for someone else to repair your item, and then claim compensation from the retailer for the cost of doing this.

You have six years to take a claim to court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; in Scotland you have five years.

Who is handling Hartke these days? Is it still Korg UK? If it is I wish you the best of luck, and don't cut them any slack whatsoever, I wouldn't wish the experience I had with them when my Kilo packed in after less than 8hrs use on anyone.

Thanks for the advice guys, It's only been three weeks and the retailer was pulling his hair out trying to get the repair done and to their credit the have offered to loan me an amp, I'll just leave it a bit longer, I still have my old trusty Trace Elliot head to use.

they're probably doing you a favour then xD

On the other hand, they were excellent and rapid in supplying me with an HA3500 toric mains transformer, a couple of years out of guarantee, to France. I've still got the amp, but haven't used it for quite a while. Thumbs up for Korg UK from me.
