Help with a Epiphone Thunderbird

Evening guys and girls
Ive just bought myself a Epiphone Thunderbird (body, neck, head, electronics etc.)
However this bass has no pickups or bridge
It looks like this:

Anyway I thought I should ask some people who know, what type of bridge and pickups would fit/should I get?

Just so you know, my username stands for Drummer Attempting Bass, so please don't be too technical :)

Thanks in advance
(Also if this is in the wrong place I do apologise, it looked the most suitable for my question but I could have been wrong)

A couple of Dark Stars would cost more than a new bass, surely? :)

But it would sound good ...

On a more helpful note, DAB, I have a Gibby Thunderbird and I'm not a great fan of the three-cornered bridge. I'd find something better, if there is such a thing, but I have no idea what to suggest.

Cheers

Mark

Mean I've made a mistake?
Shame cos its in beautiful condition, and the wood compliments the finish on my drums :)

Indeed the 3 point bridge is the right one, it's not so bad. It'd be better if you could locate a black one. Alternatively, with some work you could use an original Badass, as seen as this Tokai in the for sale forum:

http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2983

I think these Barts might fit:

Just some ideas.

if you don't have any tuners (which it doesn't look like u do) standard enclosed tuners like these should work well as for the pickups i'm sure 'birds are just routed for mini-humbuckers (soapbars) so try looking for them in terms of pickups. What type of music do you play? that would probzo help greatly with ur p/u choice.

Hi , this bridge should be what you are looking for http://www.allparts.uk.com/catalogue/produ...oducts_id=10325

and perhaps something like these for the pickups http://www.allparts.uk.com/catalogue/produ...oducts_id=11615 and http://www.allparts.uk.com/catalogue/produ...oducts_id=11616 although I am not sure about the pick ups (you may need some routing etc done), the bridge should fit straight on with no problems. Anyways it should not be to difficult to find pickups for the bass , I hope it works out ok for you

Thanks everyone, You've been great
Anyway I'm was hoping the extra bits needed would be abit cheaper really
Could I use:
Bridge

And I play metal, punk, rock everything in that sort of area
All this is brilliant and I thank you all for it

The bridge? Not without work. The three point bridge from allparts as alluded to earlier in the thread is the one that will fit directly.

Those machine heads will probably work OK, but I'd splash out and get some nice Schallers. Try Thomann for those.

You appear to working to a very tight budget, so you could use

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-String-Black-Bass-...5QQcmdZViewItem

B10 bridge (with a bit of work....)

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wilkinson-black-bass...2QQcmdZViewItem

Id got for No. 11 or 13.

I've used this place and similar components when I Burpified my Yamaha...... The shop is good, the bits are excellent VFM.....

As you've not filled your profile in we have no idea where you are.... Shame. If you were any where near me I'm sure I could helpl puttting that together for you!

I wouldn't say it was that tight, I'd just prefer to not spend too much as this is a secondary instrument.

I was thinking this for the bridge
3 point bridge

As it's a little cheaper and I don't mind waiting for it to come from America

I'll go for the no. 11 pegs

And can anyone shed any light onto the name of similar pick-ups to these, so I don't have to worry about them fitting, Im guessing they are just humbuckers but I'm not entirely sure
