EDITED 1st DEC: All gonny!

Alllrightythen: Mr G made this for me, so one owner from new. All the usuals BUT the back wings are walnut, along with the centre-block, instead of the perhaps more usual mahogany. It has done 3 polite paid gigs, numerous church worship appearances and is the only bass I record with, as it does exactly what I wish it to. Any time I want a bottom-end pinned down, it's always and only been this bass: you should be able to make its sound out among the, er, smaller guitars if you click on my sig and listen to a few clips of my CD.
As you're all jolly nice people, I'll not piffle about with feelers, tasters and tentacles(er...I've no idea why I said that...): the condition and sound are as good as you expect from a Status, miles better than you'd expect if you've never heard one. After musing my EQ settings for over 500 man-hours of recording, I've faced the fact that my ear has gone even more J-ish, so I must act accordingly. Case and docs will accompany the sale.
For cash, I'm expecting £1050 plus any carriage costs.
Exchange-wise, ideally I'm looking for a Sadowsky Metro jazzer, 4 or 5 string, with VTC, natural ash/maple only.
Mind you, I'm open to negotiable permutations: I've been sorely tempted by a Shuker jazz 4, Birdy's Lakland JO, a Sandberg and by the Sei 4 that still seems unsnapped-up at the Gallery. I may even wait for Rob to do me a J-Retro....
...so you see the spec I'm after: jazz 60s/70s; active/passive; ability to be bright(ash/maple); slimmer neck; 4-string(I think, but you know what we're like when GASsing)
This will not be going on EBay.
Pics below, plus one of it surrounded by its little brothers. Ah.
By all means pm me or float it all out on the forum.
Every bestest!

As somebody usually points out when status basses come up, it'll be well worth putting this up over here

Lovely bass btw

Ooof, lovely, this is just the spec of S2 I've always lusted after. If I didn't love my Retroactive J, I'd be sorely tempted to do a swap of some sorts. But I do, so I won't.

I think.

Lovely bass! almost the same as mine but for the frets and the fifth string. What age is your bass? I hope that is snapped up quickly to take temptation out my way.

Thanks for the encouraging response, y'all!
It's 3 years old...just out of warranty I believe.
It has 35-120 Hot Wires on at present, if anyone's interested; nylons before that; it came with 40s. I've only ever used Hot Wires with it as I think the Status strings suit it the best.
G'wan g'wan g'wan...you know you wanna!

LOL! Everyone beat me to it on this one. Just been really busy, what with normal weeks' teaching & a full week show last week, then big band gigs this weekend. Never ending!

Yes, that's a really nice one, but I've already got an S2 bolt-on 5. Make sure you play a few Sadowskys before you part with this beauty. Nothing much comes close to these in any price range.

I've actually done the first Blondie UK sortie this week & they loved the sound and tone of my S2, so I'm now thinking I don't need a Sadowsky. Want is another matter, though!

Rich.

Oh, thinking about it, do you mind if we put your lovely pics in the Status library on the Gear Porn section?

I really must express my gratitude for so many responses and a swathe of really considered and detailed PMs. Am all weekended-up at present but will be doing some midnight-oil burning tonight and tomorrow, certainly getting back by tomorrow to all who've given me much food for thought.
Rich: thanks for the necessary caveats of me keeping a tight focus, as I'm seeing some marvelously sculptured pieces of bassness in my message tray and must remember that I'm needing a tool rather than a centrefold!
Ah! Yes, by all means use my pic in the Status section; honoured.

Got one of these.... FANTASTIC... when it comes to 'clarity' and 'punch' there's no comptition and the buld quality is beyond reproach.... good luck with the sale .. but tough luck as it will be hard to get somethng to the job in its place.
Also one of the easest to wear basses i've owned, well balanced and light.

Good luck

Andy
