dabootsy
hi all in need of any ideas why our bass drum mic makes helicopter noise when we mic it up live. We have a quiet drummer who has to be put through our pa at even tiny pubs. The rest of the kit is ok but we get constant feedback off the bass drum anyone help cheers
crez5150
Which model is it? How do you have it connected to the desk? EQ settings/FX/Monitors? Other than that it could be a displaced diaphragm

BOD2
Does it work ok if you use if for anything else ? Try sticking it in front of a loud guitar cab and see if it works with that.

Huge Hands
I have heard that very noise with condenser microphones that use phantom power - a bad connection causes the noise you mention. IME of bass drum mics though (and I haven't done this for a while) I thought they were usually dynamic due to high SPL. I guess it could be a bad lead causing an intermittent short on the input stage regardless of mic type. Do you have phantom turned on for this channel?
