billynoband
My practise amp does not have a output to enable it to be connected to a high powered amp. It just has a headphone socket. Is there any way of feeding a amp from the practise amp without hanging a microphone in front of it? Could the headphone output signal be used somehow? CameronJ
Are you trying to connect your practise combo to a PA or connect your practise amp to a separate external cab? There are some small combos, such as the TC Electronic BG-208 that’ll do both, however it’s more common to find combos which just have a DI output for PA connection. Sounds to me if the only obvious “output” on your amp is the headphone socket then your amp isn’t capable of either of the above.
Dan Dare
The headphone out will most likely be stereo and at more than line level, so you could use it but be cautious. You'll need to mono the signal (use a stereo to mono lead) and either use some kind of attenuator - a passive DI box with variable resistors on board ought to do it, for example - or run the output from the headphone socket into the active input of the higher powered amp if it has one. Start with the volume at minimum on the amp you're feeding and increase with caution.
yorks5stringer
My question would be' why do you want to connect up to something else anyway'? It's a practice amp and from the description, quite small and low in features. If you want to gig it will probably not be large enough anyway so if there is a PA, just DI straight into that. You'll hear yourself in the monitors. Otherwise you may need to invest in something, either more powerful or if you want to stay small, with more features like a 'Line Out'. What is the practice amp you have?
