isteen Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 My E string is buzzing due to the angle on the string between the saddle and the tuner - and to avoid that I would increase that angle, so I ordered an original Fender String Retainer to increase the angle between the tuning mechanism and the saddle. That don't fit on a Mustang - so do you have a solution? I will have to increase the string angle https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_stealth_string_retainer_bass.htm Quote
EssentialTension Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Not sure about a Mustang but on a Precision two and a half (or towards three) winds round the tuner is enough to give a workable break angle on the E string. In my experience, the retainer you link to is more commonly used for the A string where even three winds can be insufficient. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Squiers have a 'bar' retainer on the 5 string jazz, that type of thing may work but it means drilling 2 holes in the bass...? Quote
