richardwil
I have a behringer BX300 amp. One 2 by 10" cab and one 14" cab. I know they can be unreliable, but my problem is with the sound. Way, way too much sub and little clarity. Controls on the amp primitive. Would it be worth getting a compressor or EQ pedal to fine tune my sound? Mr. Foxen
Probably need to isolate where thats coming from. Whats it like with just the 10s. And what bass/settings are you running into it?
Jean-Luc Pickguard
I use a couple of Behringer pedals that make any amp sound a lot better (although I don't use them with my LMII):

V-TONE BASS BDI21 - Bass Amp Modeler/Direct Recording Preamp/DI Box Nice easy to use eq and some subtle valve grind/distortion
& the BASS LIMITER ENHANCER BLE100 which keeps the level under control without squashing the sound.
They'd probably be help for a low outlay.
fifeq
maybe that is the old strings that is the problem?
deej
I had a Behringer combo that i used just for home use, got it yonks ago due to limited budget. I had exactly the same problem with too much sub and a really muddy sound. Its just Behringer i guess. You get what you pay for.
Jarhead
Best cure for a crap sounding amp is a new one. You get what you pay for when it comes to amps really, no other way around it. You could probably have a go at making your own, but you might need some help if you haven't done it before. Zach
richardwil
cheers for all the advice guys! Sadly credit crunch means no new amp, but might try the suggested pedals and a new set of strings is always a help! Richard
