ianrendall
We’ve just got the score for this for my big band. The squelqy effect at the start; it’s probably a synth or something but it could be done on bass. Possibly a bass wah? Doesn’t have to be a perfect replication. Thoughts? TrevorR
Bass Wah would nail a version of it, I reckon. I’ve got a Morley Dual Bass Wah which can get a tone a bit like that with the tone of the bass rolled back to de-accentuate the effect on the higher frequencies. Love The Propellerheads and their takes on Bond themes particularly. Have you heard their versions of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service? So cool! So cool! and not forgetting David Arnold who did the orchestration. For my money this is the best ever version of a Bond tune though Moby's version is pretty good too

David Arnold arranged & augmented the John Barry themes in a tasteful way. Mind you, David Arnold studied with Barry, so that figures..... Radio mix, alternate long mix (different to the decksanddrumsandrockandroll or David Arnold Bond album versions) plus the “Orchapella” version. All amazing versions. And I’d have to agree wholeheartedly about Moby’s Reversion too! Fantastic version.

Cool in extremis with other 60s movie infliuenced breakbeat tunes like Spybreak, Take California and Bang On.
