broken zip on tom & will gig bag? Any ideas

Hi- I'm hoping the collective wisdom of bass chatters can help. 

A few months ago I bought a cheap secondhand DB with  a good quality Tom & Will gig bag.  Well 6 months later the main zip on bag breaks - the slider things comes off and fell apart.

I suspect I'm not the first person this has happened to.    I've tried a replacement slider but I cant get it to  stick- it will work for a bit but zip comes apart. I got in touch with Tomand Will who very nice but apparently its an old model case and they cant help.

So does anybody know of  people out there who can fix these things at a reasonable cost?

I've taken bass gig bags with broken zips to sewing/alteration shops for repair. It was £10 or less if memory serves. Maybe give that a try?

I tried to get my zip fixed on my Tom and Will but I couldn’t find anyone that would do the job. T&W gave me a fair discount off a new bag when I explained the zip broke.

Martin, if the new slider seems to work but the zip then comes apart, it’s likely the slider's not pulling the two halves together quite enough.  Try squeezing the sides of the slider together, it might take a slight tap rather than a squeeze.

I got this from a YouTube video, and I successfully mended an old gig bag zip this way.
