GreeneKing Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 'Interesting' I bet its a tad neck heavy. Quote
Hamster Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I think that's been made out of an old disemboweling cutlass Quote
Musky Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I remember when these came out. A few typical innovative burns features on this, like the roller string trees, tuners/nut all mounted on metal plate and the bridge locking mechanism. Not ugly IMHO, but not for me either. Quote
skankdelvar Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Can also be used as a giant bottle-opener. Quote
budget bassist Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 When you say ugly.... do you mean uglier than most other burns basses? Because lets be fair, you can hardly call them attractive!! Quote
Annoying Twit Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 I do appreciate originality in design. But sometimes it works and sometimes it ... doesn't. I'm not too knowledgeable on Burns basses, so I couldn't compare them. I'm off to google images search them out though. Quote

BigRedX Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Burns Basses have this weird thing where the more horrible they look generally the better they sound and play and conversely the coolest looking of all the Burns, the Flyte is a complete dog to play and sounds cr@p! Quote

Musky Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Ah, that's a Korean Bison by the looks of things. Quote
mathewsanchez Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 That's the exact one in my local music shop. I've played it and it's quite fun, not my cup of tea though. Quote

I think the original Scorpion had the 3 single-coils like the Bison, not that P/J lash-up. Quote

I remember an article and brochure in IM&RW when these first appeared which, as far as I recall, had brass rather than chromed plates on. Maybe there were other differences as well. Quote
Prosebass Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Probably owned by a pirate.....arrrrrr arrrrrr Jim lad... Quote
tombboy Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 An original scorpion. My brother had the six string version of this many years ago and apart from a little neck dive, it sounded awsome! Personally I find it fugly and would never buy one. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Back in the mid-late '80s I bumped into Jim Burns a couple of times in the Angel pub (behind tin pan alley). He was a happy drunk . All I can remember in the drunken conversations we had, was talking about 'Hawaii steel metal'. (he was talking about building Hawaiin guitars. Me being metalhead at the time)..Did I spell Hawaiin right Quote
